Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator who works with NBC News in Washington D.C. she is a TV anchor. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing up in New York City. Mitchell started her career as a journalist at KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in 1967. In 1976, Mitchell was hired by WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). In the following two years, she joined NBC News as a Washington reporter. She began covering the White House in 1981 and was named chief correspondent for the congressional office in 1988. She was made chief White House correspondent by NBC News in the year 1992. Mitchell is a regular as a guest on TV news program Meet the Press as a panelist and host. Mitchell also participated as a panelist in the debate in 1988 with George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 for her role in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the first reporter to cover White House stories for NBC News during Ronald Reagan's tenure as president from 1981-1988. Mitchell has reported on a variety of notable stories over the years, such as the tax reforms, budget reforms as well as the Iran Contra saga. She travelled frequently along with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
